The PG Department of English at KMV is one of the oldest departments of this 134 year old pioneering institution. It has highly qualified and committed faculty with a thirst for research and creativity. The department offers MA English and BA (Honours) English (A Three Year Degree Programme), Certificate Course in Spoken English, apart from the teaching of Elective English, English Compulsory and Communication Skills in many disciplines. The department organised an International Conference on English Studies Across and Beyond Borders in collaboration with ESBB (English Scholars Beyond Borders), an International body of English scholars from March 6-8, 2019 besides having organised an International conference on ‘Cross Cultural Nuances’ and a UGC Sponsored National Seminar on ‘English Language Teaching: Themes, Issues and Challenges’ in the past few years.

Accomplishments

*Dr. Madhumeet, Head PG Department of English is a regular translator with Sahitya Academy and has published many short stories and stories books. Recently, she has translated the book “ Kamandal” .This book has the honour of being included in 100 must read books in‘ Legacies of the Homeland’ by Paramjeet Singh.

*Dr. Madhumeet was invited by Sahitya Academy Delhi to deliver a felicitation speech, where she shared stage with Mrs. Gursharan kaur, w/o former Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Mr. I.K. Gujaral, among others.

* Publication of the Departmental book ‘The Literary Contours’ edited by Dr. Madhumeet and Mrs. Vanila Khanna.

*The Department publishes a Peer Reviewed International Journal ‘The Oracle’

* Minor Research Projects granted by the UGC to the Faculty members.

* 20 Books (Creative, Critical, Translations, Edited Books) by the Department Faculty

* About 200 Papers Published by the Department Faculty in International & National Journals & Books

* High-Tech Language Lab fitted with the latest high-quality software to impart training to students in listening and speaking skills, Group Discussion, Interview Skills, IELTS and a lot more.* Department Room – The Department has a separate faculty room for teachers to carry out their academic work in their free periods.* Well-furnished classrooms with a facility for e-lectures for M.A., B.A. (Hons.) Patil (Professor of English, Dept. of Training, Development and Education, School of English Language Education, The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India), as Professor Emeritus, helps in organising Conferences and Seminars, delivers lectures and conducts workshops with students from time to time.
